Position: Humanities and Social Science Faculty (multiple positions)

Institution: Parami University

Employment Status: Full-time

Base: Ideally in Southeast Asia, but it can be anywhere virtually

Start Date: July 1, 2024

1. BACKGROUND

Parami University is a member of the Open Society University Network and a partner institution of Bard College, New York. Parami and Bard have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer value-added educational opportunities, such as dual degree programs, subject to approval by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), the institutional accreditor of Bard College.

Parami University was established as Parami Institute in 2017 in Myanmar (Burma) to provide high-quality continuing education programs to Burmese youth. Later, the institution was expanded to establish a residential liberal arts and sciences university in Hmawbi, Yangon, Burma. However, the plans to build a physical campus have been postponed due to the political instabilities caused by the 2021 military coup. In June 2022, Parami University was incorporated in Washington, DC, and licensed by the Higher Education Licensure Commission, a regulatory authority of the government of Washington, DC.

Parami University currently offers Associate in Arts (AA) under the General Education program and Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees in two interdisciplinary majors: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE)  and Statistics and Data Science (SDS).

Parami University is now seeking three full-time faculty members in the Social Sciences and Humanities. Faculty members will be asked to offer courses in the Social Sciences and Humanities and in General Education,  strengthen the academic programming and scholarly activities, and to support the academic expansion of the university in its founding years as an online degree-granting institution providing undergraduate studies.
