Parami MOOC
Burmese Language Seminar Course

The Parami Institute of Continuing Education (PICE) offers a Burmese language seminar course on analytical skills designed as a massive open online course (MOOC). As a MOOC course, this online discussion-based course is delivered synchronously to up to nine hundred and sixty students.

Language has been a big barrier for many Myanmar students to access the student-centered style of learning that Parami offers, rooted in critical reading and thinking, discussion-based classrooms, and foundational knowledge across disciplines. Through the Burmese language seminar course, students will gain first-hand experience of liberal arts model education and first year seminar experience in US liberal arts colleges in the context of Myanmar.

In this course, participants will read one to two readings assigned for each session of discussion. The reading assignments are excerpts from academic books and articles as well as novels and short stories, written in Burmese language or translated from English to Burmese. One of the main objectives of this seminar course is to read and critique texts on history, literature, philosophy, and social sciences. For full information about this course in Burmese language, please visit https://paramiseminars.com/mooc/.
