Academic Divisions

Three academic divisions constitute the faculty at Parami University: 

 

  • Division of General Education

  • Division of Social Science and Humanities

  • Division of Mathematics and Science

 

The Division of General Education supports all the general education requirements for major programs developed under the Divisions of Social Studies and Mathematics and Data Science.

Division of General Education

The Division of General Education supports all the general education requirements for major programs developed under the last two divisions. The mission of the Division of General Education is to nurture well-rounded and intellectually diverse students by offering general education courses in multiple disciplines in humanities, social sciences, mathematics, sciences, and arts; by providing introductory college-success workshops and programs; and by delivering personalized academic advising and tutoring.

 

The Division of General Education develops and offers the following courses as part of the General Education curriculum in the first two years of the undergraduate degree program. All courses offered under the Division of General Education for the academic years 2022–2026 are between 100–249 levels.

  • First year and second year sequenced seminar courses 

  • First year English Composition courses 

  • Humanities/social science distribution requirement courses

  • Math/science distribution requirement courses, and

  • Arts distribution requirement courses

 

The Division of General Education offers seven required foundational 100-249 level Philosophy, Politics, and Economic (PPE) courses for students who would like to major in PPE. These are:

  1. The Art of Argument

  2. Intro to Ethics

  3. Introduction to Political Science

  4. Introduction of Political Theory/Philosophy

  5. Introduction to Microeconomics

  6. Introduction to Macroeconomics

  7. Craft of Social Inquiry

 

The Division of General Education also offers seven required foundational 100-249 level Statistics and Data Science (SDS) courses for students who would like to major in SDS. These are:

  1. Calculus I (Differentiation)

  2. Calculus II (Integration)

  3. Linear algebra

  4. Introduction to Probability

  5. Introduction to Statistics

  6. Data Communication and Ethics

  7. Programming with Python

Division of Social Science and Humanities

The Division of Social Science and Humanities offers Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) Program. The mission of this Division is to nurture students to become socially informed and responsible global citizens by providing social studies courses and programs across the University in line with the mission of Parami University. The Division of Social Studies organizes courses that are major-specific at the level of 250–499.

 

The following are some of the core courses (250-349 level) and elective courses (250-499 level) offered under this Division for each specialization under the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) major.

Division of Mathematics and Science

The Division of Mathematics and Science offers the Statistics and Data Science (SDS) Program. The mission of this Division is to prepare students to be able to address challenging global issues through mathematics and data science by offering programs in the field of Mathematics and Science in line with the mission of Parami University. The Division of Mathematics and Science organizes courses that are major-specific at the level of 250–499.
