Dr. Dale Mineshima-Lowe, a faculty member in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Parami University, presented at “Collaborating with or for Artificial Intelligence?”, an online expert panel organized by The Hague Centre for Digital Governance, Leiden University, in the last week of September 2025. 

Led by our Student Affairs Team, an in-person gathering was held in Yangon this weekend, bringing together faculty, staff, and students from the Classes of 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029. The meetup featured a variety of exciting games that helped bring community members closer together, with staff and students joining in the fun.

Our Academic Advisor, Alex, had the privilege to visit four of our students who live in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.

Struggling to make ends meet, he lost the motivation to study. "I thought my dream was gone," he said. But then a friend came to visit. "You've already spent over a decade on education," the friend told him. "Don't give up now. You should finish what you started."

Parami students presented initiatives that empower Myanmar's youth and migrant communities by expanding access to education, life skills, mental health support, and creative learning opportunities—helping them overcome barriers in difficult social, economic, and political contexts.

The Institutional Advancement Team at Parami University has launched a Career Development Center in the Spring semester. The PUCDC is designed to empower Parami students with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to navigate their career journeys with confidence and purpose. 

Dr. David Golding, Chair of the Division of Social Science and Humanities at Parami University, has co-authored a chapter in the newly released and first-ever SAGE Handbook of Peace and Conflict Studies. The chapter, titled “Decolonizing Peace: Possibilities for Pluriversality,” was co-authored with the former Provost of the American University of Afghanistan.

One major achievement: nearly 500 GB of digital waste—old emails, duplicate photos, unused apps—was deleted. But beyond the numbers, the campaign sparked something deeper. Participants began to rethink how they use technology and how it affects the environment.

Parami University recently received approval from HELC to introduce a third major: Bachelor of Arts in Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ESS).
