ParamiX online courses are back this fall semester with a set of courses under the theme 'Changemakers.' All five courses are about change and the makers of change, with topics ranging from machine learning to business and from social change to climate change.
Each course is twelve weeks long, including time to implement the learning in projects. Each course will have a maximum of 20 participants. At least for nine of these twelve weeks, participants will engage with each other and the instructor in online, synchronous meetings of 1.5 hours twice a week. During the project weeks, there will be regular check-ins and office hours with the instructor.
Having taught a few ParamiX courses, the instructor of the Transforming Mindsets to Fight Climate Change course, Khin Thandar ( LL.M.), appreciates the opportunity to interact with participants directly and the availability of education technologies provided by Parami.
"I joined some online courses myself. I found most of the courses have pre-made videos, and they are very good. But the difference with ParamiX Course is the instructor is there in real-time. If there is anything they [the participants] want to ask, they can do….very, very lively discussion. Also, Parami uses lots of teaching aids [educational technology], for example, H5P, Canvas." said instructor Khin Thandar ( LL.M.).
Meanwhile, the Supervised Machine Learning for Social Change course instructor, Myo Thida (Ph.D.), who also teaches classes at Parami University, described the difference between ParamiX courses and other online courses for its sense of community.
"You have faculty community. You have a student community. Whenever the participants miss the class, I can always reach out to the Parami team to get in contact with them. We have a lot of supporting teams at Parami that I like about it. It is not just 1.5 hours online class, and that is. During these 1.5 hours, there are a lot of interactions. You can use a chatbox to communicate with the participants, discuss and guide them. That is the uniqueness of ParamiX courses based on my experience teaching at Parami," said instructor Myo Thida (Ph.D.).
