

About the Course
In today's rapidly advancing technological landscape, supervised machine learning has emerged as a powerful tool for promoting positive social change. This course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the principles and applications of supervised machine learning in the context of social change. Students will develop a deep understanding of how supervised learning algorithms can be harnessed to address societal issues, analyze social data, and make data-driven decisions. This course is project-driven, and the group project will allow students to apply their knowledge to a social issue of their choice and demonstrate their ability to leverage supervised machine learning techniques to drive positive change. While no prior knowledge of machine learning is required, a basic understanding of programming concepts and data analysis will be beneficial.
Familiarity with the Python programming language is mandatory as it will be the primary language used throughout the course.

Myo Thida (Ph.D.)
Dr. Myo is a passionate advocate for empowering youth and driving impactful change. Currently teaching at Parami University’s Mathematics and Data Science Department and Chiang Mai University's Computer Engineering Department, she also co-founded a data analysis company and worked as a freelance consultant in educational reform projects. With a background in research engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Vision, she leverages machine learning and data analytics to uncover insights and create social impact. Originally from Myanmar, she has studied and worked in Singapore, London, Myanmar, and Bhutan and now resides in Thailand. Dr. Myo enjoys books, cycling, and traveling, fueling her curiosity and creativity. Her diverse expertise and unwavering commitment make her a formidable force in shaping a brighter future.
