Are you feeling uncertain about your academic and professional future? On September 10, 2025, the Parami University Career Development Center hosted the very first episode of its Graduate Talk Series, titled “Navigating Uncertainty,” with a focus on Chevening Scholarship guidance.
Sa Phyo, a Chevening Scholar and alumnus of the University of Sussex, began the session by sharing memorable moments from his university life in Brighton. His reflections offered students a vivid glimpse into life at Sussex—a close-knit international community with a relaxed beach atmosphere, cultural exchange events, and strong student support services. He highlighted how master’s students can maintain a healthy study-life balance by engaging in cross-cultural activities, building networks, and connecting with professors who are experts in regional issues.
He also walked students through the Chevening Scholarship requirements and selection criteria, explaining how to choose a university that aligns with one’s current profession and long-term career goals. Sa Phyo emphasized key updates to the application process and essay prompts, noting that the changes help applicants more clearly demonstrate their experiences. He underscored the importance of writing strong reflective essays using the STAR approach, which can significantly strengthen an application.
“Just TRUST in yourself and start doing what you believe. Give yourself TRUST in what you have been through. No matter what the result is, keep going on,” he encouraged, offering heartfelt advice to students preparing to apply for the 2025 Chevening Scholarship, whose deadline is October 7, 2025. Students also asked questions about finding the right career path and staying committed to it.
The session benefited not only aspiring scholars but also students hoping to take on leadership roles in their communities. It was interactive, inspiring, and motivating for everyone seeking to pursue academic excellence while contributing meaningfully to society.
More Graduate Talk episodes featuring world-class scholars and their community-building journeys are on the way. Please stay tuned!
