Parami University’s Career Development Center hosted the third session of its Graduate Talk Series on November 5, 2025, titled “Bard NYC x Parami: MA in Global Studies, Certificates, Exchange, and More!” The session introduced students to academic and professional opportunities offered through Bard College’s Graduate Program in Global Studies, along with insights into student life in New York.
The session was led by Duncan, who outlined the core components of Bard College’s admissions and financial aid processes. He also addressed current concerns related to U.S. visa procedures, the variety of available graduate programs, and the vibrant youth community surrounding the Bard NYC campus. His interdisciplinary approach made the session highly engaging, offering detailed guidance on choosing majors aligned with career pathways and understanding scholarship eligibility. Duncan also highlighted New York City’s dynamic environment, emphasizing its multicultural communities, recreational activities, landmarks, and well-equipped student facilities.
In addition to the full-time MA in Global Studies, Duncan explained that Bard offers semester-based certificate programs such as Globalization and International Affairs and Institutions and Social Change. The curriculum includes professional development components like the Chace Lecture Series, internship search support, and panels featuring alumni and industry experts. Students may choose between two degree tracks:
NYC Track, with coursework offered at Bard in New York City, and
CEU Track, featuring courses at the Central European University in Vienna and leading to a dual degree.
Both tracks focus on topics related to global systems, emerging issues, and contemporary trends.
During the Q&A session, students raised concerns regarding U.S. visa challenges and the preparations needed to join Bard’s graduate programs. Duncan reassured attendees that the admissions committee is aware of the situation facing students from Myanmar and encouraged them to consider applying within the next two to three years, noting that current travel restrictions may ease.
The session offered valuable insights for students and scholars preparing to study abroad, emphasizing lifelong learning and effective management throughout the academic journey.
More Graduate Talk events featuring global scholars and their community-building experiences will follow. Stay tuned for upcoming sessions.
