In a world where academic success is often measured by numbers, the Fall 2025 Dean’s List at Parami University tells a much deeper story. Many students taking online classes at Parami come from countries like Myanmar, where prolonged power outages, internet disruptions, civil conflict, and uncertainty are common.
Every semester, Parami University celebrates the Dean’s List to recognize academic excellence, one of the university’s core goals. This semester, 28 exceptional students earned a place on the Dean’s List. These students achieved a GPA of 3.80 or higher, placing them in the top 10% of their class.
Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Phil Enns stated that “one of the university’s goals is to encourage excellence in studies,” and congratulated the students on their achievement. He noted that earning good grades alone is not what matters most; rather, it is the excellence of the work students produce and the skills they develop that will shape their futures. He added that the university not only helps students succeed personally but also cultivates leadership qualities that empower them to give back to their communities. Dr. Enns shared that he is excited to see how students will become changemakers in their communities and wished them success in their future endeavors.
While each Dean’s List recipient has a unique path, the reflections below represent the collective spirit of the Parami community.
Reflections from the Dean’s List Recipients
The Dean’s List is more than a recognition of academic excellence; it reflects resilience, perseverance, and personal growth. Behind each achievement is a unique journey shaped by determination, challenges, and the support of a caring community. From overcoming self-doubt and returning to education after years away, to becoming the first in their family to attend university, these students embody the spirit of dedication and lifelong learning. Through their reflections, they share not only their pride in this milestone but also the people and experiences that inspired them to keep moving forward.
Jan (Class of 2029)
Jan took a moment to congratulate themselves for giving their absolute best to earn a place on the Dean’s List. However, Jan recognized that they did not achieve this alone and credited the unwavering support of peers, professors, advisors, and classmates for helping them reach this milestone.
“As the first person in my family to make the dream of a university education a reality, I am incredibly proud,” expressed Jan. “I hope to encourage others to take pride in every success, no matter how small or big, to believe in themselves, and to keep going.”
Thar Hla Nyi (Class of 2029)
Before joining Parami University, Thar Hla Nyi struggled with self-doubt and had little academic confidence, having never read an academic paper before. Despite feeling insecure, he embraced the opportunity and committed himself to doing his best. Although philosophy was initially challenging, he gradually grew to appreciate the subject and is deeply grateful to the professors and advisors who supported him throughout his journey.
“Earning a spot on the Dean’s List still feels unbelievable. I’ve learned that it isn’t about being the best; it’s about doing your best,” said Thar Hla Nyi.
Lu Htoi (Class of 2028)
Lu Htoi expressed deep honor at being named to the Dean’s List for the third time and affirmed a commitment to carrying these values forward while continuing to do their best in future endeavors.
“I haven’t just studied core values in a textbook; I have experienced them firsthand within this community,” shared Lu Htoi with pride.
Simon (Class of 2027)
Simon’s motivation came from seeing an inspiring social media post about the Dean’s List.
“That spark pushed me to work beyond my perceived limitations and dedicate myself to my studies. Today, I am proud to see that hard work is reflected in this achievement,” he shared.
Pwint Myat Moe (Class of 2028)
After a six-year interruption in education, Pwint Myat Moe found it incredibly difficult to restart their academic journey while balancing work responsibilities. There were times when they felt like giving up. However, the patience and dedication of professors, advisors, and classmates kept them going. Their mentorship played a crucial role as Pwint Myat Moe navigated late-night study sessions and the stress of assignments.
“Being on this list represents more than just high grades; it is a testament to discipline, dedication, and commitment to this academic path.”
Mohammed Hamim (Class of 2028)
Mohammed shared that Parami University had provided him with the key to doors he never thought would open. While the journey had been challenging, it had only made him stronger.
“I want to thank my professors for their unique approach; they didn’t just teach us what was in the text, but taught us how to think outside the box and push beyond our limits. Their guidance and enthusiasm for our questions are the reasons I stand here today,” acknowledged Mohammed.
Wisdom from Faculty and Academic Advisors
Behind these student achievements stands the unwavering dedication of faculty members and academic advisors, who have committed themselves to educating, mentoring, and guiding students throughout their academic journeys.
Faculty: “You are the opportunity.”
Professor James shared that to “stay with the trouble” means carrying a bag — a vessel for the ideas, thoughts, and experiences that life brings our way. Our task, he explained, is to nurture these fragments, sit with them patiently, and, when the time is right, plant them and allow them to grow.
“As faculty, we cannot learn for you; we can only create the space for you to seize. You have taken charge of your own education with determination. We are deeply humbled by what you have collectively accomplished and who you have individually become.”
Professor Dan Wessner expressed that: “To say you have ‘done well despite the struggle’ almost feels inadequate. When we listen to your stories and witness your support for one another, ‘struggle’ no longer feels like the right word. You do not just seize opportunities — you create them. You are the opportunity. You are the ones carrying this journey forward; we are simply here to facilitate your path.”
Academic Advisors: “A symbol of resilience.”
Academic advisors Alex and Cleo shared that: “This does not just mark academic excellence; it is a symbol of resilience. It reflects your courage even when the future feels uncertain and fragile. Pursuing education under these circumstances requires immense discipline and self-motivation.”
The academic advisors reminded the wider student body that the Dean’s List is not an exclusive space, but a symbol of possibility. It acknowledges the shared challenges many students face — including power outages, unstable internet connections, and external pressures — while affirming that these circumstances do not define their potential. The 28 students recognized this semester stand as evidence of that truth.
This recognition is intended to inspire the broader student community. Whether students aim for the Dean’s List next semester or are simply working to complete their next module, they are reminded that Parami University stands behind them. The 28 students recognized this semester demonstrate that excellence is shaped not by ideal conditions, but by determination and continuous learning. Supported by faculty, advisors, and peers, their success reflects a shared commitment to growth and transformation within the Parami community.
