A new semester started with a new cohort of students. On August 17, 2025, Parami University's Class of 2029 officially embarked on their transformative journey at a heartwarming virtual Matriculation Ceremony. Filled with hope, inspiration, and a powerful sense of togetherness, the online event united students, dedicated faculty, Parami staff, and special guests from across the globe to cheer on this diverse new cohort.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Dr. Jonathan Becker, Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bard College, Parami's academic partner.

He shared two key ideas that define both Bard and Parami, sparking enthusiasm for the journey ahead: "Bard College is known by two different slogans, which we hope you represent," Dr. Jonathan Becker said. "One is called 'a place to think.' In your classes at Parami, you'll be challenged by your professors and fellow students to think deeply and engage profoundly with the materials you study. The other thing is that Bard is known as a private institution acting in the public interest. In that capacity, Parami is part of our partnership and is part of how we view the world. We view it as really important to make sure that people from across the globe have access to a rigorous liberal arts and sciences education."
Dr. Becker concluded with a heartfelt wish that set the tone for the adventure ahead, noting that
A wonderful intellectual, educational, and academic experience. That is what Parami represents. Parami students have been wonderful because they have shown dedication, interest, understanding, and most of all, a desire to learn.
Next, Dr. Kyaw Moe Tun, President of Parami University, spoke to the new students with passion, encouraging them to embrace the values the University upholds, including diversity, equity, academic excellence, integrity, humility, empathy, freedom, and responsibility. He encouraged them to write a 300-word essay on one of these values, which they’ll revisit at graduation to reflect on their growth.

"After you complete your education at Parami, venture out into the world," Dr. Kyaw Moe Tun said while explaining the hidden meaning of the three stages of the Parami Logo, which reflect the growth of the students studying at Parami. It is our hope that you extend positive influence and impact on the people of all communities and the natural world."
The ceremony’s most goosebump-inducing moment arrived with the recitation of the Parami Student Oath. Led by Dr. Kyaw Moe Tun, the Class of 2029 pledged in unison, their voices harmonizing across miles and screens, to uphold the university's values and officially join the Parami intellectual community.
In that moment, a new bond was forged. The students' faces shone with pride and confidence, fully embracing their new identity as part of the Parami community. Their academic journey ahead will be filled with learning and personal growth. Coming from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and nationalities, the Class of 2029 shares a common goal: to acquire a quality education and use the knowledge to make positive changes to their communities. Parami University welcomes 101 students to the Class of 2029, maintaining last year’s size while achieving greater diversity. Myanmar represents 66% of the class. New students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Rwanda, and Pakistan reflect Parami’s expanding reach. Gender balance remains strong, with 54% female and 46% male, compared to 49% and 51% last year.

This matriculation ceremony marks their first, unforgettable step toward that success, a memory they will carry with them until their wishes are fulfilled.
The first two weeks of the Matriculation Ceremony will be a time for the students to prepare personally and academically for the fall semester. Parami University’s education centers around liberal arts education, which encourages students to think critically, be creative, and look at the world from different perspectives. To ensure the students are familiar with the teaching and learning approach at Parami University, the University will provide them a series of workshops led by faculty, staff, and student-led clubs, including the Language Thinking Workshop and many other sessions, such as pursuing intellectual curiosity, mental wellness, and academic communication, student success, and intercultural communication.
