Pone Nyet Aung, a junior-year student from Parami University, has been selected as a Global Engagement Fellow for the 2024-2025 academic year, along with 24 other international students worldwide.Â
The one-year online program will allow the fellows to demonstrate their leadership as they coordinate civic engagement projects such as Global Engagement Annual Magazine, Virtual Student Leadership Conference, Global Engagement Monthly Workshops, and Youth Leadership Mentoring Program for students from their universities and across the Open Society University Network (OSUN).Â
As a Global Engagement Fellow, she is excited to share her civic engagement knowledge and experiences with students across the network and at Parami University.Â
Pone Nyet Aung is a junior student at Parami University majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). As a Global Engagement Fellow, Pone brings a wealth of experience from various roles, including serving as the President of the EvolveMinds Mental Health Support Club, where they promoted mental health awareness and peer support among students.Â
Pone has also participated in the 2024 Get Engaged: Student Action and Youth Leadership Conference in Berlin, Germany, and the 2024 CEU Summer Course for Civic Engagement: Student as Citizen in Budapest, Hungary. Additionally, Pone received the Parami University Civic Engagement Award and has volunteered for the Multiculturalism and Information Literacy Community Project for youths in her community. Pone is passionate about mental health advocacy and community building. She aims to empower fellow students in their community projects by providing the necessary skills and fostering an environment of collaborative growth.
