Many prospective students consider how higher education fits into their lives and often wonder whether online learning at Parami University means long hours alone in front of a computer. During the recent “Life at PU” experience showcase, students shared firsthand how studying at Parami University extends well beyond the screen, combining rigorous academic engagement with collaborative, community-based, and global experiences.
Learning Through Discussion and Mentorship

The session opened with student ambassadors introducing different aspects of student life through a lively icebreaker. Photos of dance studio sessions, club activities, community projects, and international travel quickly revealed that Parami’s learning environment is much more than online classes.
Students Nang Kham Thaung and Lu Htoi, from the Class of 2028, shared their experiences of Parami’s hands-on academic environment. They explained that classes are conducted in small groups, which allows them to actively participate in discussions, debate ideas, and collaborate with peers. Rather than passively listening to lectures, they emphasized the value of engaging in real-time conversations with professors and classmates, where every question and perspective contributes to deeper understanding.
They also highlighted the importance of mentorship at Parami. Professors are readily accessible for one-on-one meetings, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities to explore research ideas. They reflected that this close mentorship with professors and academic advisors not only strengthens critical thinking skills but also helps students gain a more nuanced and personal understanding of their studies.
Learning Beyond the Classroom

Gun San Aung and Mai Pausa, from the Class of 2029, shared their experiences with student-led clubs and learning hubs, emphasizing how these spaces extend learning beyond the virtual classroom. They explained that learning hubs provide opportunities for students from different academic years to study together, discuss course materials, and support one another, fostering collaboration and peer mentorship.
Theint Theint Hlaing, also from the Class of 2029, emphasized how student-led clubs play a central role in campus life. For instance, the Creative Club organizes art workshops and charity initiatives, while the Ludo Sophia Club hosts strategy-based board game sessions that promote teamwork and problem-solving. These activities illustrate how student-led initiatives are an integral part of the Parami learning experience, providing opportunities for collaboration, leadership, and in-person engagement beyond the online classroom.
Global Exposure and Real-World Engagement
Ko Ko, from the Class of 2027, described how his summer exchange program in Taiwan with National Sun Yat-sen University went beyond traditional classroom learning. While exploring topics such as environmental sustainability, disaster preparedness, and democratic values, he emphasized that the experience was equally about meeting people, building cross-cultural understanding, and connecting with Taiwanese students to discuss shared challenges and future opportunities. The program introduced him to new perspectives, professional networks, and collaborative approaches to global issues.
Final-year students Pone and Myat reflected on how Parami’s service learning and international internships enabled them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world contexts. Pone Nyet shared that her two-month placement at Cherry Myay in Taunggyi, assisting teachers and students, strengthened her problem-solving skills, deepened her empathy, and gave her a practical understanding of education. She reflected that the experience made her realize Parami’s education extends far beyond the classroom.
Myat also shared her experience interning at the Asia Foundation in Washington, D.C., supporting international cooperation programs while living with a host family. She shared how this internship opportunity helped her broaden her perspective, connect with diverse people, gain cross-cultural work experience, and enrich her academic learning with real-world experience.
Both noted that these experiences expanded their understanding of different communities, strengthened their professional confidence, and cultivated cross-cultural skills, demonstrating how Parami integrates academic learning with meaningful real-world and international engagement.
A Holistic University Experience
Through academic discussions, mentorship, collaborative learning hubs, student-led clubs, and international opportunities, Parami University fosters an environment where students actively engage, explore, and grow. Beyond the classroom, students connect ideas with real-world experiences, form meaningful relationships, and develop real-life skills.
