With the shared goal of advancing healthcare, human rights, and education in vulnerable communities, Parami University has partnered with the Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF). This strategic partnership supports undergraduate students at Parami University in developing their professional skills through hands-on internships in the healthcare sector. The collaboration advances academic knowledge in real-world settings and medical impact.
Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF) supports medical treatment costs, necessary diagnostic tests, and other social support services for vulnerable communities in Thailand and Burma. BCMF also builds the capacity and improves access to medical care in vulnerable communities through several health-related outreach projects.
Through this strategic partnership, the Parami University Career Development Center connects students with internships that improve access to medical care in vulnerable communities of Thailand and Myanmar through BCMF’s referral services programs. The programs further foster students to support individuals with a wide range of health conditions and knowledge.
Director & Founder of Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Kanchana Thornton said, "BCMF welcomes this opportunity to collaborate with PU to enhance student learning and career readiness through internships designed to help students develop the skills and experience to enhance access to health care in their communities. The benefits of this collaboration are tremendous for both our organization and us, and we hope this will be the beginning of a long, fruitful relationship [furthering or promoting] our shared dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable communities through access to healthcare, human rights, and education."
“We remind our students and faculty constantly why we exist. That clarity helped volunteers step into disaster zones after the earthquake—not because we asked them to, but because they felt it was their duty.” — Dr. Kyaw Moe Tun, President of Parami University
Through this partnership, Parami University and Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF) aim to expand career pathways and provide meaningful internship opportunities for undergraduate students, while nurturing lifelong learners and compassionate contributors to public health.
