The 2024 Rising Generation U.S. Summer Internship Program has concluded, leaving many memorable experiences and inspiring moments for the student interns. While working at various think tanks and international organizations, the students primarily conducted research, wrote, analyzed data, drafted instructions, and published articles.

The host organizations were highly impressed by the interns’ work ethic and contributions during the internship. Moreover, the internship mentors and supervisors described them as mature, exceptional, proactive, and devoted to fulfilling their responsibilities. Based on feedback from the host organizations, we identified some of the remarkable qualities of the students that contributed to a successful internship experience.

Being proactive

The students asked many questions that could help them grow and perform well in their roles. They were not afraid to ask for clarification and feedback and did not shy away from responsibility.

Going above and beyond

They not only fulfilled their assigned responsibilities but also dedicated their knowledge, time, and skills beyond their assigned tasks to maximize their impact on the hosting organization. They were eager to take the initiative and help their team members as much as possible.

Producing quality work

Most student interns' roles involved research and writing tasks that required a high level of skill in gathering relevant information and analyzing complex situations. Their academic and research skills helped them produce exceptional works, some of which exceeded expectations.

Being open-minded

Sometimes, the interns were unfamiliar with their assigned tasks and roles. Despite challenges, their supervisors' valuable advice and suggestions inspired them to try new things and improve their skills with a can-do attitude.

Anticipating the needs of the team

With an excellent understanding of their roles and responsibilities, student interns also demonstrated foresight and anticipation. They took charge without being asked, which showed their ability to self-direct without continual external direction. Anticipation is one of the key indicators of a high-performance team.

Applications for the upcoming Rising Generation U.S. Internship Program have started. The US internship program aims to provide Parami students with international exposure and work experience at organizations that address global issues related to them. Although instructional classes at Parami University are fully online, students have various opportunities to participate in internships and exchange programs abroad to complement their academic experience, helping them grow not only academically but also personally and professionally.
