Tin Shine Aung

Tin Shine Aung is an interdisciplinary sustainability scholar specializing in education and governance for sustainability. He is currently completing his PhD in Sustainability Science at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, where his research explores digital sustainability literacy within a polycrisis context. He also serves as the Consulting Director at the Shwetaungthagathu Reform Initiative Centre (SRIc) and is a former Mentor and Professional Fellow of the U.S. State Department’s YSEALI Professional Fellows Program, specializing in sustainability and the environment. Additionally, he serves as a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education (IJSHE). 

Prior to entering academia, he worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as a Knowledge Management Specialist for the Fishadapt project, and at CRYOPDP (NASDAQ: CYRX) as a Corporate Responsibility Specialist, where he managed environmental and social initiatives. His research and policy work have been published in Open Research Europe, Marine Drugs, The Diplomat, East Asia Forum, and Small Wars Journal, as well as by think tanks such as the Central European Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS). He holds master’s degrees in Marine Science & Marine Resources from the University of Porto, Portugal, and in Biochemistry from the University of Yangon, Myanmar, as well as a postgraduate diploma in International Studies/Relations from the Myanmar–Korea Centre for International Studies at the University of Yangon.
