Idil Brand is a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations at Central European University, where she is currently in the final stage of her doctoral studies. She also holds an M.A. from Central European University. Working across critical, decolonial, and feminist approaches to world politics, her research examines political subjectivity and the making of political life through everyday and embodied practices. Her work engages questions of modernity, secularism, and postcolonial relations, with a particular interest in how world politics is lived and negotiated beyond the sites conventionally recognized as political. In doing so, she explores how attention to the everyday can unsettle established understandings of what becomes legible as political, as well as dominant ways of knowing and locating world politics. Her interests in political philosophy and critical pedagogy further shape her teaching, which brings questions about power, knowledge, and political life into conversation across different traditions of political thought.
