Dr. Will Buckingham

Dr. Will Buckingham has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Staffordshire University and an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Durham. He has previously served as Associate Professor in Writing and Creativity at De Montfort University and Visiting Associate Professor in the College of Literature and Journalism at Sichuan University. He is interested in anthropologically informed philosophy, and also writes fiction, nonfiction and children’s literature. His works have been translated into multiple languages, and his most recent book, “Hello, Stranger: Stories of Connection in a Divided World,” (Granta Books) was a BBC Radio4 Book of the Week. His other books include "Stealing with the Eyes: Imaginings and Incantations in Indonesia" (Haus Publications), "Levinas, Storytelling and Anti-Storytelling" (Bloomsbury Academic), and several novels. Will was also lead contributor to DK's globally-bestselling "The Philosophy Book", which has to date sold over seven million copies. He has translated fiction and poetry from both Mandarin and Taiwanese Hokkien, and co-directs the literary publishing house Wind&Bones Books.
