Communications and Public Relations Officer

Position: Communications and Public Relations Officer 

Base: Myanmar (preferably based in Yangon)

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Report to: Assistant Manager & Director of Communications

Start Date: June 16, 2026 

Compensation: Based on experience


1. DESCRIPTION OF PARAMI UNIVERSITY

Parami University is a private, non-profit, online, synchronous higher education institution licensed by the District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) in the United States. It began as a liberal arts initiative in 2017 and later expanded to offer fully synchronous dual associate and bachelor’s degree programs in collaboration with Bard College. We are currently recruiting a Communications and Public Relations Officer to lead cross-departmental coordination, oversee the institution’s website and social media platforms, and support external and internal communications. 


2. JOB SUMMARY

The Communications and Public Relations Officer supports the PR & Communications team by producing visual content, covering events, and coordinating across units. Working under the Assistant Manager's direction, this officer attends and documents institutional events and student activities, produces light design and video assets, and conducts monthly check-ins with all units to plan and gather content needs in advance. This officer also works closely with the Assistant Manager and unit team members on communications for institutional events and student activities, contributing to planning and execution.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Burmese

  • 1–2 years of relevant professional experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of all major social media platforms and digital communication trends

  • Photography skills, with confidence in attending and capturing institutional events and activities

  • Basic video editing skills using CapCut or similar editing software

  • Basic graphic design skills using Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite

  • Strong writing ability, with the capacity to produce clear event write-ups, announcements, and communication materials with minimal supervision

  • Highly organized with strong follow-through; able to coordinate effectively with multiple units and consistently meet deadlines

  • Proactive and forward-thinking, with the initiative to anticipate needs and plan ahead

  • Willingness to work outside standard office hours and on weekends when required

  • Ability to work independently, manage urgent tasks, and perform well under pressure

  • Strong and stable internet connection at home

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Production

  • Attend institutional events (in-person) and online sessions to shoot photo and video content

  • Write post-event articles and summaries from events and sessions attended, including those outside standard office hours

  • Write Admissions-related content, such as event promotions and registration announcements, based on direction from the Assistant Manager

  • Edit and produce video content 

  • Produce light design assets using Canva for routine communications needs, passing complex requests to the Senior Visual Designer

Cross-Unit Coordination

  • Conduct monthly check-ins with all units across the institution to gather upcoming updates, events, and content needs

  • Maintain a forward-looking content tracker and flag gaps or conflicts to the Assistant Manager in advance

  • Follow up with units to ensure the timely delivery of materials needed for communications

Events & Activities Support

  • Work with the Assistant Manager and Digital Media Officer to plan and execute communications and campaigns for institutional events and student activities

  • Attend, shoot, and document institutional events and student activities

Website & Social Media Pages Monitoring

  • Monitor website and social media pages to ensure all content is up to date.
